TRAM BURGER

I'm very fortunate to be skiing in Jackson Hole with my brother and nephew. Today we ate lunch at Tram Burger, located at the base of the mountain just across from the entrance to the tram. They grill your burgers on a grill like you'd have at home and you sit outside in the sun. It's nice to eat a burger. I also had some of my nephew's chilli cheese fries which were both delicious and disgusting. Eating with a fourteen year old isn't good for my acid reflux.

LITTLE OWL-LUNCH

I had a great time being Andrea's assistant as she prepared to cook for a group from the Atlanta Food and Wine Festival at Little Owl Venue. With Little Owl on the brain, we decided to meet Sara for lunch there. We shared some classics: clam strips and sliders. And we all had chicken soup that was simple and good.

JIELDE

I love the lamp I recently bought on ebay. It's a Jielde lamp from the 1950's.

MOMOFUKU SSAM BAR WITH ANDREA

I love eating with Andrea. We always order way too much. Last night at Momofuku Ssam Bar was no exception. We started with geoduck clams in a fennel, apple, cucumber and jalapeno soup: and scallops with blood orange and scallop crackers.
Beef tataki filled with sweet potato and radish.
Tripe with ginger, scallions and celery curls.
Kale in XO sauce.
Fish ball hot pot.
Oxtail dumplings
Quark ice cream (I thought they said "pork" ice cream) beet puree and chocolate.
Orange semifreddo.

(SMOG)

This isn't another complaint about Los Angeles. On the way home to New York, I listened to Smog's Knock Knock record. I forgot how much I love it, and feel compelled to mention that. Also, it was recently announced that Bill Callahan {formerly (smog)} will soon release a new record.

NATURA

If you are ever in Los Angeles and have a few hours to spend, I recommend the Natura Spa. It's for men and women, in separate areas. It's very clean. You can go in a hot tub, a steam room, a sauna and a cold plunge. After doing all of those things my favorite thing to do is the sleeping room. You're clean, you put on a robe and go in a cool, dark room and relax in a lazy-boy chair and fall asleep.
