BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES

In the summer, it's fun to make pickles at home. My favorite style is bread and butter. They are sweet and spicy and easy to make. I don't go through the whole sterilizing/canning process since I eat them almost immediately.

Soak sliced kirbies and onions in salt and ice cubes for a few hours
Make syrup with white vinegar, sugar, celery seeds, mustard seeds, red pepper flakes and tumeric (for that yellowy color)--add salted cucumbers.
Pour into a jar and refrigerate.
